When is CKO a necessary?

“A firm, in the long run, must produce something that people need or require.”  for the Knowledge Management, it must benefit the people who are running business.  Knowledge Management alone doesn’t mean much, if it can’t help business by getting more money from it or run more smoothly, no one will pay much attention to it.

To make use of Knowledge, some firms set up a new position named Chief Knowledge Officer(CKO), which is similar like other CXOs such as CEO, CFO, CIO. while there is one thing quite different from knowledge and other matter that set CXO to take charge of them. Knowledge itself alone doesn’t mean much, it can’t be avulsed from business. Those who creates knowledge are those who use knowledge.

We might need knowledge editor to organize knowledge, and we need someone to set up the whole knowledge system, but we don’t need someone to work as a guardian for the asset of knowledge.  We should encourage people to create knowledge and make use of them, but we’d better not make them annoyed.
